Custom Markers and Team Sharing: Collaborate on Property Research in Mapview

Property research has always been inherently spatial, but most teams still track it in spreadsheets, email threads, and shared folders. Today we’re launching Custom Markers and Team Sharing — features that let your team annotate properties, share findings, and collaborate on site selection directly on the map.

Custom Markers

Custom markers let you pin any property or location on the map and attach your own notes, status labels, and files. Unlike the standard property pins, custom markers are:

  • Fully customisable — choose from 12 marker colours and 8 icon types (star, flag, pin, building, site, check, cross, question)
  • Annotatable — attach a text note of any length, internal reference number, or free-form assessment
  • File-attachable — upload documents, photos, or PDFs directly to a marker (10MB per file, up to 20 files per marker)
  • Privately visible by default — your markers are only visible to you and any workspaces you share them with

Markers persist across sessions — they’re there the next time you open Mapview, on any device.

Marker Collections

Organise markers into named Collections — for example, a collection per acquisition campaign, client, or project. Collections can be toggled on and off as map layers, keeping your workspace clean when you’re switching between projects.

Team Workspaces

The Team Workspace feature allows multiple users in the same Mapview Business account to share a common layer of markers, properties, and notes.

When you add a property or marker to a shared workspace:

  • All workspace members see it on their map immediately
  • Changes sync in real time — notes, status updates, and new markers appear without a page refresh
  • Each edit is attributed to the team member who made it, with a timestamp

Workspace permissions are controlled by the account owner:

  • View — can see workspace markers and properties, but cannot edit
  • Edit — can add markers, update notes, and change status labels
  • Admin — full control including managing workspace members

Property Status Labels

Beyond markers, you can now apply status labels to any saved property:

  • Watching
  • In review
  • Due diligence
  • Under offer
  • Acquired
  • Passed

Labels are visible in the property panel and as a subtle indicator on the map pin. Across a workspace, this gives a team a live view of where every property sits in the pipeline.

Export and Reporting

All workspace data — markers, collections, property lists, status labels — can be exported as:

  • CSV — for import into Excel, CRM systems, or project management tools
  • GeoJSON — for use in GIS software or other mapping platforms
  • PDF map report — a formatted overview map with marker details for presentations or site visits

Availability

Custom markers are available on all plans, including Free (up to 20 markers total). Collections and Team Workspaces require a Business plan. Workspace members are counted against the Business plan seat limit.
