Melbourne's Greenline Project Breaks Ground — What It Means for CBD Property

Greenline Construction Begins

The City of Melbourne’s flagship Greenline project has broken ground on its eastern segment, a 1.2km riverfront promenade connecting Birrarung Marr to the Docklands.

The Project

  • Total investment: $316 million (City of Melbourne $200M + State $116M)
  • Scope: 4km continuous riverfront promenade along the Yarra’s north bank
  • Completion: Stage 1 by mid-2028

Property Impact

Properties within 200m of the Greenline corridor have already seen price premiums of 8-12% since the project was announced. Apartments with river views in the Flinders Street and Spencer Street precincts are seeing renewed buyer interest. Docklands apartments within walking distance to the Greenline are attracting downsizers who previously overlooked the area.
